Credit Where Credit Is Due: Setting the Record Straight

By Holly Lewis

More than most things, something that inspires me to write is a deep and overwhelming feeling of an injustice occurring, something we could readily change, something we could see through to the end and make anew.  Recently a friend of mine mentioned his love of Bilal after having seen him play live, which I know was a great show considering Bilal’s amazing talent.  Truly, the man’s talent is beyond what can be articulated clearly to anyone who hasn’t heard his music and voice.  Nonetheless, I realized something, which is apparently THE issue of artists and may remain so evermore.

Environment is Everything

By Holly Lewis

Some of the most influential people I have welcomed into my life firmly believe that we change our environment by changing ourselves.  That our environment will be or will not be any given

Healing the Body

The Story of Cankle By Holly Lewis

I have a fondness for wilderness.  A deep respect.  It often inspires awe in me and so I seek out wild places any chance I get.  Recently, a friend and I traveled to Muir Woods in the north bay

Being a Healthier Woman

By Holly Lewis

Questioning whether your existence matters and what you do each day to reinforce the value of your life is simply not an idea that many are preoccupied with.  To many, life is fleeting.  And yet in its fleeting nature they are continually distracted by the trivial in a secondary world which makes consumers of us.

Thus many of the women I have met are consumers.  They don’t know who they are or what they really love or have passion for.  They give of themselves freely without a second thought if the price is right, and they continue to consume because somewhere in that consumption is a form of solace which sings them to sleep at night.

Becoming a Stronger Leader

By Holly Lewis

Failure is an opportunity.
If you blame someone else,
there is no end to the blame.

Therefore the Master
fulfills her own obligations
and corrects her own mistakes.
She does what she needs to do
and demands nothing of others.

Picasso (Full name: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso!)

Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.

Give me a museum and I’ll fill it.

God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat. He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things.

Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.

The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?

When I die, it will be a shipwreck, and as when a huge ship sinks, many people all around will be sucked down with it.
